Yesterday, I log in to my Friendster Account again after almost 2 years I think because my Facebook News Feed is flooded about the closing of Friendster thats why I checked on it.
So, is Friendster Closing? I found out that it is indeed true that Friendster is closing on May 31, 2011 and will delete users information, photos, comments, blog and etc. Upon login you will see a flash image on the right side telling Friendster users to backup or download their account informations and stuffs. Now, how to backup my Friendster Account, Photos and other stuffs? Friendster is generous enough and they even made an application called Friendster Exporter in order for the Friendster users to easily download their information, photos, comments and blogs or export photos to Flickr and Multiply. Just by installing the Friendster Exporter application, you are just one click away from making a back up of your account. The picture below shows that you had successfully requested a download of your profile. Mine is already on the process but I haven’t receive an email yet. So I suggest you create a backup of your account too.
May 31. 2011 is the last day of Friendster or shall I say OLD Friendster. Yeah guys, Friendster will not close for good but they promise a new and exciting Friendster soon and the deletion of your account information, photos and other stuffs is just one step of the launching of the NEW Friendster. They say that accounts are still intact meaning you will be able to login using your login details but all your photos, comments, information and blogs will be gone. It will be a fresh start again for Friendster after reigning the social networks before. Is it payback time for Friendster? Will Friendster can take the throne again of social networks battle?
